Crisis Care Centre
Asha Diep (Light and Hope) Care Centre is a safe place for people to stay when they come to Kathmandu for medical treatment.
They receive counseling, healthy food, advice about living with HIV and help in getting to the hospital for tests, results and medication.
Many AIDS patients in Nepal have to make a long trip to the capital city to receive testing and treatment for HIV.
Life saving antiretroviral treatment (ART) is hard to access outside the cities, yet is critically needed in the villages of Nepal. Many people do not come for treatment or testing, because they can't afford accommodation.
When in the city they often have nowhere to stay and can end up sleeping in slum like conditions, further compromising their already fragile health.
The Care Centre is a safe place for them to stay. They receive counseling, healthy food, advice about living with HIV and help in getting to the hospital for tests, results and medication. When their health improves they return home until they next need to visit the hospital.
